Autumn Wild Mushroom Retreat
Saturday, October 17th 2015

We have been harvesting a wide variety of edible wild mushrooms during the
Fall season for many years. . . And now, we are offering
an Autumn all day Wild Mushroom Retreat to share our experience with you!

Tim with an impressive cluster of fresh chicken-of-the-woods mushroom.

This is a day-long program including a foray to areas of our forest where
we consistently find many different species of delicious fungi; including
oyster mushrooms, maitake, coral fungi, chicken-of-the-woods, puffballs, tree ears, &
dryad’s saddle, among others.

Our friend Anna Lou holding over $300 worth of Maitake ("hen-of-the-woods") mushroom... These bring $16 a pound from area chefs! And yes, this is all one cluster... the largest we've found to date!... Over 22 pounds!

The day will also include: information on mushroom anatomy and
identification (ID and discussion of some other wild edibles as well), a full
Vegetarian meal (featuring lots of wild mushrooms!), wildflower viewing, farm tour,
discussion of mushroom cultivation & marketing. . . and literature, recipes &
fresh wild mushrooms to take home with you!
